Wyoming stretches out flat as a pancake for miles, with few rest stops, gas stations, restaurants, or any sign of human life. With the serenity of the plains and the dryness of the desert, the highways evoke lots of thought, unorganized, free thought, which is perfect for a drive like this.
Thanks to wireless communication, I have managed to stay linked up with so many friends, and it is wonderful. Everyone in my life is living such rich lives, flying across the world alone and with dear friends, holing up in Ann Arbor dealing with hard times, letting go of relationships past and learning how to work through the present.
Grandma Jean and I have been having a lovely time exploring vast Wyoming, and today stopped at a great diner in Laramie before driving to Evanston, where I write this blog. Sounds trite, but I really love Holiday Inn Express, the rooms are great and much nicer than your average hotel. Ollie has (another) abscess so I will have to take him to the vet here tomorrow. I am sure he'll be ok. He's been a real trooper this trip, hardly complaining and taking the frantic travel pace and many hours of driving with stride. Here's a pic of the two of us (Ollie and I) at my old place in Ann Arbor.
